The resident cat takes some days off from serving customers | A journey that respects the cat’s convenience

Although the resident cat is beloved at the inn, it is not a staff member who serves customers according to a schedule. There are days when it feels sleepy, days when it needs to take care of its health, and times when it wants to get away from people. Making a reservation, including the possibility that you may not be able to meet, is the attitude that supports the inn for a long time.

There is more than one reason why cats don’t appear.

The cat’s location changes depending on sleep, temperature, number of visitors, construction, medical appointments, new environment, and relationship with other cats. If the inn does not disclose the reason, we will not post on social media assuming that the cat is ill or retiring.

Do not ask for a call

Even if there are circumstances such as “I came from far away”, “It’s my birthday”, or “We met last time”, I won’t ask you to bring the cat from your bed. Once you have asked the staff for today’s guidance, they will accept the answer.

Operation of an inn that supports cats’ holidays

The rest room, closed hours, exhibition cancellations based on physical condition, and photography restrictions are mechanisms to protect cats rather than reduce service. It is also important to have a flow that allows cats to leave common areas on their own.

The emphasis on choice and predictability when interacting with cats is consistent with guidelines for cat-friendly handling.

Prepare ways to spend days when you can’t meet

Have one purpose other than cats, such as hot springs, meals, buildings, local walks, and reading. Do not wait in front of the cat’s bed or search around the area.

Don’t put pressure on yourself with photos or reviews

If you show past photos and request the same composition, or if you give a low rating saying “there was no cat,” there will be pressure to send a cat to the inn. In the review, I will write separately about whether the advance notice was appropriate and the fact that I was not able to meet the cat.

Supporting action

  • Check the cat’s enrollment information before making a reservation
  • Accept the information on the day
  • Stay away from rest areas
  • Don’t ask for calls or cuddles
  • Enjoy the accommodation itself
  • Do not spread old cat information

Specific operations to protect rest

Inn operation Things to be observed by guests
Private break room No need to look for a place or ask to enter
Closing times for the guest room Do not ask for reopening even during business hours
Cancellation of guest room visits Do not ask for a replacement cat
Shooting canceled due to physical condition Don’t guess the present based on past photos
Retirement/reduction in customer service Separate past reviews from current information

Even if the inn does not disclose the details of the reason, we will not assume the name of the disease or problems between the cats. You can respect their rest by simply informing them that you can’t meet them today.

Adjust your expectations when booking

In addition to cats, we also have other purposes such as hot springs, meals, and local walks. If contact with cats is a prerequisite for your trip, check the current operations before booking and consider whether you can accept the possibility that you may not be able to meet them on the day.

Summary

Holidays for resident cats are not a lack of Nekoyado-like characteristics, but can be evidence that cats are treated as residents. I want to be a traveler who is quietly happy on the days I can meet them, and respects rest on the days I can’t.
