“Mimi wo Sumasu” in Tarofu, Kanayama-cho, Oku-Aizu, Fukushima Prefecture is a small inn with only one room that was renovated from an old folk house. The Kaneyama Town Tourism and Local Products Association introduces conversations with married couples, resident cats, and home-cooked meals that are in harmony with nature as attractive features of a stay.
A one-room old private house with a resident cat
Kanayama Town Tourism and Products Association provides information about this inn where you can enjoy a relaxing time with resident cats. The presence of cats can be confirmed using high-quality local information, but the specific scope of contact, such as petting, holding, or coming to the guest room, is not made public. Therefore, it is classified as C.
Even in accommodations with only one room, cats do not always stay in the same place as the guests. When you arrive, check the cat’s living area, whether you can touch it, and the photography rules, and don’t look for the cat if it’s hiding.
A small inn and cafe run by a couple
We operate an inn and cafe in a renovated old folk house in the Tarofu district, the highest point in Kanayama Town. Unlike large inns, this is a place where you can enjoy talking with the innkeepers and spending time close to local life.
There is 1 guest room. Please check the necessary conditions such as bathroom, toilet, bedding, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, acceptance of children, etc. at the time of reservation. While it is easy to stay in a quiet room because it is a single room, we also take into consideration the differences in steps and noise of an old folk house.
Home cooking made in line with nature
The tourism association says that it offers home-cooked meals carefully prepared in natural conditions in a space that gives you the warmth of wood. The basic plan is one night and two meals included, but prices and dishes change depending on the season and stock.
Please inquire about food intolerances, allergies, meal times, and drinks when making a reservation. Even if a resident cat comes near, do not feed it human food and follow the rules of lodging in the eating area.
Access to Okuaizu/Tarofu
The location is 300 Shimomura, Tarofu, Kanayama Town. As it is a mountainous area, it is best to travel by car and be prepared for snow and ice in the winter. Please confirm public transport, transfers from the nearest station, transfers and parking locations at the time of booking.
Business hours and refueling locations at nearby facilities may be more limited than in urban areas. Check food, drink, and road conditions before you arrive, and plan your itinerary with plenty of time.
- Whether or not you can interact with the resident cat is unconfirmed.
- This is not an inn that guarantees guest-room visits.
- Since there is only one room available, please check availability and cancellation conditions early.
- Check the steps, bathroom, air conditioning, and other necessary equipment of the old folk house.
- Check road information and vehicle equipment during winter.
