What guests can do to prevent cats from escaping at cat inns

At an inn where cats roam freely inside the inn, leaving the entrance, window, or guest room door open even once may lead to an escape. The guest is not the cat catcher, but a collaborator who handles each door one by one.

Ask about the door mechanism when checking in

First, check the rules for each accommodation, such as double doors, locks, screen doors, nighttime entrances, and luggage entrances. Rather than bringing in how to keep a cat at home, we will give priority to providing accommodation information.

Even automatic doors do not guarantee safety. Wait for the staff when the cat is nearby.

Do not open two doors at the same time

When using a windbreak room or double door, close one side completely and make sure that no cat has gotten in between before opening the next one. Ask your companions not to open the door separately.

The kindness you hold back for a long time for the person behind you can be dangerous in a cat hostel.

Leave your luggage first and ask for round-trip directions.

The front door is fixed so you can’t open it because you have to carry things out of your car many times. First, you will check in with just one person and confirm where to place your luggage and how to bring it in.

Do not use the carrying case as a door stopper, and check to see if the cat is inside the bag before closing it.

Guest room Do not open doors and windows without permission.

Even at inns where cats come to the guest room, whether you can freely return them to the hallway or call the staff will vary depending on the inn. Do not open windows or screens for ventilation, photography, or to invite cats.

Before going to bed and before going out, check to see if the cat has gone under the bed, in the bathroom, or in the closet according to the inn’s procedures.

Don’t call the cat in the parking lot

Even in accommodations with cats that go outdoors, do not call them by name or treats near the car. Before driving off, visually check under and around the car and report any abnormalities to the staff.

If you need to check the engine room, please consult the inn manager.

When the cat goes outside or is lost

Avoid yelling, running around, moving your car, or calling for a search on social media first, and notify the inn staff immediately. The inn knows the cat’s personality, hiding places, and how to bring it back.

We do not change the entrance or exit at our own discretion, such as opening the door further and waiting for people to return.

Escape prevention check

  • Close the double doors one by one
  • Do not secure the entrance with luggage
  • Don’t call the cat from the road
  • Do not open windows and screens without permission
  • Check the cat’s whereabouts before leaving the guest room
  • If you lose it, do not chase it and contact the staff.

Take one action for each scene

Scene What guests should do What not to do
Check-in Only people enter first and ask for instructions on how to bring in the luggage Secure the entrance with luggage
Entering and exiting the guest room Check your feet and the cat in the room and close the door Carry the cat out into the hallway
Ventilation Check with staff how to handle windows Screen doors are considered safe
Going out at night Use the designated entrance and key Open the door separately from your companion
Start the car Visually look under and around the car and call out to the inn Call the cat near the car
Lost the cat Report location, time, and door status Start tracking, capturing, and posting on SNS

Before arriving at the entrance, share with your children and companions that you will open the doors one by one and that you will not open the door even if you find a cat. Even if only one person understands it, if another person opens the next door, the double doors become meaningless.

Information to provide when contacting us

If you lose the cat, tell them exactly where and when you last saw them, any characteristics of the cat, any doors or windows that may have been open, and any actions you performed. If you don’t open the door for fear of being scolded, the inn’s search will be delayed.

If the hostel tells you to stay where you are, wait without looking around. If you need to tell other guests not to open the door, please follow the staff’s instructions.

Summary

Preventing cats from escaping at a cat inn is not a matter of special trapping techniques, but of consistently closing doors one at a time and checking the cats’ whereabouts with the inn. Especially if a cat goes missing, do not run; follow the staff’s instructions.
