“Iwanajaya” in Yamanakako Village, Yamanashi Prefecture is a hot spring inn with a total of 9 rooms in an old Japanese-style building. You can enjoy four hot springs that can be reserved for private use, local Yamanashi cuisine, and encounters with resident cats.

Resident cat chachas welcome you

The official inside the inn guide lists the resident cats Charco and Chacha and the signboard dog Pazu as the inn’s mascots. Chacha was featured in a resident cat list as a cat that greets guests and gets along well with everyone. In the current official review section, there is a record of someone staying at the inn for the purpose of seeing the cats and meeting them inside.

This site classifies it as B because there is specific information about welcoming and interacting with guests inside the inn. However, we cannot officially confirm that the cat will come to the guest room. Since dogs also live in the accommodation, do not close the door to keep the cat in the guest room or wake a sleeping cat, and only interact calmly when a cat approaches.

9 guest rooms in an old folk house style

There are 8 Japanese-style rooms and 1 Japanese-Western style room. There are rooms with semi-open-air hot spring baths, 6-tatami two-room rooms, and 6-tatami Japanese-style rooms. The inn operates while maintaining the approximately 60-year-old building, and notes that it has a low entrance and creaky floors. Suitable for people who want to enjoy the charm of an old building rather than the uniform facilities of a newly built hotel.

Wi-Fi is available in all rooms, and most rooms are non-smoking. Only some rooms have baths and toilets, so please check the necessary facilities for each room type.

4 private hot springs and room meals

inside the inn has 2 private open-air baths and 2 private indoor baths, which can be used free of charge and no reservations are required. It is not a large bath, but a small bath for families or couples. Please follow the local guidance regarding usage times and how to use tags during busy times.

Dinner will be served in the guest room, based on a Japanese-style meal that incorporates hoto and Yamanashi prefecture beef. If you reserve multiple rooms at the same time, you may be assigned a separate private room. Breakfast is served in the hall, but some plans may have it served in your room, so please check your reservation details.

The location is 342 Yamanakako Murayama Middle School. About a 4 minute walk from the Yamanakako Village Hall bus stop, or by car from Yamanakako IC towards the Village Hall. Parking is free. In principle, there is no shuttle service, but it may be possible to do so at a nearby bus stop, so advance consultation is required.
