4 resident cats provide hospitality
Official website lists four resident cats: Sei, Chamaru, Kenta, and Oto. Sometimes you will be greeted by a friendly resident cat, and other times they may be walking around, so it is up to your luck whether you can meet them or not.
The Fukushima tourist note states that 4 resident cats live inside the inn, and if you are lucky you can come into contact with them. For this reason, this site classifies it as B. The current instructions to come to the guest room cannot be confirmed, so this is not A.
The personalities of the four resident cats are not the same. Kenta, who appeared in the 2026 Rakuten Travel Resident Cat Ranking, is described as a very shy and timid cat. It is important not to assume that just because you are told about the entire property that there are friendly cats, you can interact with any of them. Rather than looking for hidden cats or luring them out with food, prioritize the wishes of the cats you meet.
Japanese-style rooms and Japanese-Western rooms overlooking the Surikami River
Guest rooms include a 10 tatami Japanese-style room with the scent of wood, and a Japanese-Western room with a 10 tatami Japanese-style room and a bedroom. Rooms along the mountain stream offer views of the nature surrounding the Surikami River.
We also have a dedicated guest room where up to two small dogs and cats can share the same room for free. Not all guest rooms are pet-friendly, so if you’re traveling with your pet, be sure to select one and check cage and inside the inn rules. Please follow the staff’s instructions and do not close the door to keep the cat in the guest room AND do not wake a sleeping cat.
Anahara Onsen’s natural hot spring water
The current accommodation plan includes hot springs fed directly from the source and private baths. As you would expect from a hot spring inn along a river, you can make the hot springs the main purpose of your trip, not just meeting the cats.
Please check the plan and the day’s information for available bathing times, private bathing methods, and cleaning times. Since pets cannot be taken to the bathhouse, the method of leaving the cat in the guest room will also follow the rules of the inn.
Fukushima’s local cuisine and local sake
Dinner options include seasonal sashimi, shrimp with heads, and wagyu beef dishes, as well as local Fukushima dishes such as the proprietress’ homemade walnut miso and “squid carrots.”The contents change depending on the stock, so if you are looking for food, be sure to check the reservation plan.
Another feature of the inn is the Fukushima sake selected by the young master. Since you can thoroughly enjoy meals and hot springs, you can plan your stay as a hot spring inn even on days when the resident cat is resting and you can’t see him.

Summary
Okina Ryokan is a cat inn where you can enjoy a chance encounter with four resident cats, Anahara Onsen, and Fukushima cuisine all at once. There is a large gender disparity between cats, and there is no guarantee that you will be able to meet or interact with them. Rather than spending your stay just looking for cats, it would be a good idea to enjoy the hot springs and meals and quietly watch for them if they show up inside the inn.
