This article is a guide for guests to check photos of resident cats and inside the inn taken at Neko Inn before posting them on SNS, blogs, and video sites. We separate what can be photographed and what can be published.
Even cute photos can affect the rules of the inn, other guests, the cat’s current information, and location information. Don’t rush to post on-site, take your time and check before publishing.

Allowing photography and posting on SNS are not necessarily the same.
Although it is possible to take commemorative photos for individuals, some inns have separate restrictions for posting on SNS, posting videos, and for commercial use. Check the official website and check-in information, and if you are unsure, ask the staff.
Providing photos, blogs with advertising revenue, and use for product introductions may be treated differently from personal SNS.Please specify the purpose and confirm.
Enlarge and check the background of the photo
Check that other guests, staff, car license plates, luggage tags, guest room numbers, keys, and reservation slips are not visible in the photo. For videos, check the audio and pause to inspect each scene.
Instead of relying solely on blurring, it is safe to replace the photo with one without people. Please also check the judgment for When guests are reflected.
Do not determine the cat’s name and current information
For the cat’s name, age, personality, health, and adoption status, use the latest information from the inn. If there is a possibility that you have mistaken a cat that looks similar, do not give it a name and describe it as a “resident cat.”
Do not describe an inn as one where cats always come to your room based on a photo of a cat visiting once. Limit the description to what happened when the photo was taken, such as “During my stay that day, the cat entered the room of its own accord.” The operation of the inn and the behavior of the cats will change.
Withhold real-time location information
If you add location information or guest room information during your stay to your post, the guests’ own actions will also be made public. Check to see if the inn allows real-time posting to avoid crowding the area where the cat is.
Please be considerate of your own safety and that of the accommodation, such as posting after checking out, erasing the guest room number, and adding the date of the photo.
Be careful when using words to evaluate accommodations and cats
We do not conclude that the fact that the cat did not come to see you is due to a “lack of service,” and that the cat is hiding as “he hates people.” Explain that the inn respects the cats’ wishes, health, and need for rest.
If it appears that you touched, held, or gave food for the sake of the photo, an explanation is required that does not mislead the inn’s permission. We will not publish photos of unauthorized activities and will notify the inn of the situation.
Correctly indicate official account
When introducing an inn, use SNS accounts that can be checked from the official website. We will not guess and tag facilities with the same name or unofficial fan accounts.
Rather than adding a large number of hashtags, it is better to simply write the name of the inn, the period when the photo was taken, and the fact that the cat’s behavior varies depending on the day.
Pre-submission checklist
- Not only photography but also posting on SNS is permitted.
- Person, voice, luggage, and guest room information are not included.
- Checked the cat’s name and information in the latest guide
- Do not use expressions that guarantee that we will definitely meet.
- Official account and location information confirmed
- Processing has not significantly changed the impression of the actual product or the inn.
- Do not write medical history, rescue location, or safety information that is not disclosed by the inn.
- Added a verifiable link to the official website and official account
How to write a post
In your post, include a short note about when you visited, that this is an example of when you were there, and that cat behavior varies depending on the day.
Stayed in August 2026.On this day, I met a resident cat in the common area. Because the cats spend their time freely, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to meet them at any time. Please check the inn’s official information for the latest information.
Rather than inciting expectations with phrases such as “divine service,” “exclusive,” or “I’ll definitely meet the cats,” it’s better to introduce the appeal of the inn as a whole, such as the food, hot springs, building, and local area, in order to avoid concentrating the burden of customer service on the cats.
If you would like to leave a comprehensive review after your stay, please also see How to write a good review of a cat inn.
Summary
Taking photos at cat inns includes checking them before publication. Check the inn’s posting rules, background personal information, and the cat’s current information, and do not generalize the behavior of that day.
