“Shoraku Ryokan” in Ozu, Ehime Prefecture is an inn where resident cats live inside the inn and can even come into guests’ rooms if they feel like it.
Some guest room doors have small windows for cats. The big appeal of this inn is that you can wait for the cats to visit you.
What kind of accommodation is Shoraku Ryokan?
Shoraku Ryokan is an inn in the city that is convenient for walking around Ozu Castle and the castle town. The guest rooms are Japanese-style rooms, and plans are available mainly for stays without meals.
Rakuten Travel’s current facility information clearly states that cats are inside the inn and can also enter the guest room. This inn is so close to cats that people who are allergic to cats or don’t like cats are asked to refrain from using the inn.
From the small cat window to the guest room
Current Accommodation Plan has a room with a small window in the guest room door for cats to enter and exit.
This is an environment where cats enter the room of their own will and leave when they feel like it. A guest review from July 2026 also reported that cats come to the room to play when they feel like it.
More than 10 cats have been introduced in recent accommodation videos and accommodation reports, but the number changes depending on the season. This article does not determine the current exact number.
Easy to combine with Ozu sightseeing
The inn is within walking distance of Ozu Castle and the historic townscape. The location makes it easy to include both relaxing time in your room with the cat and a walk around the castle town in your itinerary.
About 15 minutes walk from Iyo-Ozu Station. Current guidance states that there are 5 parking spaces available, free of charge and no reservations required, but please confirm at the time of reservation as this is subject to change.
Things you should know before staying
- Cats do not always come to the guest room.
- The presence or absence of a small cat window may vary depending on the guest room. Please check your reservation plan if you wish.
- The number of cats, names, physical condition, and range of pets you can interact with will change.
- When it comes to cuddles and treats, please prioritize the rules of the inn and the cat’s wishes.
- This is for people who value distance from cats and staying in a castle town rather than new buildings and facilities.
Access
About 15 minutes walk from Iyo-Ozu Station on the JR Yosan Line. The location is close to tourist spots such as Ozu Castle and Ozu Red Brick Museum.

Summary
Shoraku Ryokan is an inn where you can not only see cats inside the inn, but also have cats visit your room on their own.
Who comes from behind the small cat window depends on the cat at the time. This is a hotel we would like to recommend to people who are looking for a stay where guests can quietly participate in the lives of cats.
