Even within the same “cat accommodation,” the distance from cats and the type of accommodation vary greatly.
In this article, we will look for seven hotels that match your travel goals, comparing not only guest room visits, but also hot springs, meals, transportation, and camping facilities.

From the published individual articles belonging to Chiba Prefecture’s cat accommodation category, we will list all 7 properties where you can check the presence of resident cats and their contact with guests. The order is not a ranking.
The distance to the cat is divided into A, where guest room visits can be confirmed, B, where you can interact with the inn or a dedicated space, and C, where the cat’s presence is confirmed but the range of interaction is unconfirmed. A does not mean that the cat will always come to the guest room.

This is a pension that offers a “cat house where you can stay” and is similar to the feeling of living with cats. The official website also states that there is a cat that comes to play in the guest room, and Neko Yado Research confirmed that they spend time in the guest room during their stay coverage.
Cats move freely between indoors and outdoors, and the amount of time they spend inside the inn changes depending on the season and mood. Follow the instructions given by the inn regarding the door so that the cat that comes to the room can exit on its own. This is the first accommodation that people who want to make time with resident cats the center of their trip should consider.
Irori no Yado Shichirigawa Onsen

Features of this inn
This is a hot spring inn in the mountains where multiple resident cats walk freely inside the inn. When staying at Neko Yado Research, there was a scene where a cat entered the guest room and slept with us on the futon. However, the same cat does not come every time, and the cat’s intention that day takes priority.
The indoor and outdoor baths are fed by natural hot spring water, and the irori hearth cuisine is a major feature of the inn. Suitable for people who want to enjoy their stay including hot springs and meals without relying solely on cats.
Washinmura
Basic information

This is an old folk house and glamping facility where you can stay in a rural village where cats and nature coexist. Cats do not serve customers at set times, but live freely on the premises and may enter the guest room if they feel like it.

Hanahana no Sato

This is a campground where you can enjoy the entire satoyama where rescued cats live. The official website states that cats may come to play on the site and inside the tents, and during our stay interviews, we confirmed natural interactions on the grounds and in front of the tents.
The current classification is B because the system is different from a typical inn where cats patrol the guest room. We check and plan not only the cat, but also camp setup, weather, vehicle conditions, and communal facilities.

This is a Taisho Romantic hot spring inn where multiple resident cats live. You may be able to interact with friendly cats inside the inn, but guest-room visits cannot be confirmed, so this is classified as B.
This inn is easy to set up for purposes other than cats, such as hot spring open-air baths and stewed dishes. Since the facilities and pet-friendly conditions are different between the main building and the separate building, we will check meeting the resident cat and choosing a guest room separately.

Features of this inn
This is a facility where you can enjoy glamping in the bamboo forest and meet the resident cats Ban and Poo who live on the premises. Although it is possible to confirm that the cat is present, it is classified as C because it is not possible to confirm the scope of contact such as petting or holding the cat.
Do not chase the cat around; if you find it, watch over it quietly. Since you can enter the adjacent animal facility and experience meals, we chose this as a trip to enjoy nature and animals rather than an accommodation where you are guaranteed contact with cats.

Things to check before making a reservation
- Is there a resident cat currently living at the inn?
- Where can you meet the cats: in the guest room, common areas, campsite, or a dedicated space?
- Is guest room visits normal behavior, limited to specific plans, or just a past example?
