This article is a research list of accommodations whose conditions could be confirmed as of 2026-08-19, based on Neko Yado Research’s published individual articles, audits of distance to cats, and official/current accommodation information confirmed in each article. Please check the official information of each inn before making a reservation, as business hours, cat availability, accommodation plans, and transportation conditions may change.
In Kanagawa Prefecture, we were able to confirm a resident cat at a hot spring inn, a cat living in a Japanese-style inn near Kawasaki Station, and a facility in Yugawara where you can stay in the same guest room as a cat with eligible plans. The three hotels are clearly divided not only in how they interact with cats, but also in terms of their goals: hot spring trips, city stays, and the experience of sharing a room with a cat.
Criteria for posting this list
We will post all 3 published individual articles belonging to Kanagawa Prefecture Cat Inn Category. The order is not a ranking.
A/B/C is based on the distance to resident cat/resident cat. “Maikyatto”‘s cat room plan is classified as B because the mechanism is different from A, where resident cats freely visit the guest room.
Accommodation where conditions were confirmed
Nanasawa Onsen Nanasawa-so
Illustrative imageBasic information
- Location: Nanasawa Onsen, Atsugi City, Kanagawa Prefecture
- Distance to cat: B|resident cat Hana-chan may appear at the entrance or around the front desk
- Check this list: Individual articles organizing the official blog and official facility information for 2026
- Accommodation features: 7 rooms in total, strong alkaline natural hot springs, seasonal Kaiseki cuisine
Features of this inn
This is a hot spring inn in Atsugi where the resident cat Hana-chan sometimes welcomes guests. The official blog not only states that the cats are on duty, but also that there are days when they are on break and cannot be seen, so you can see how the inn respects the cats’ lives.
Guest-room visits cannot be confirmed. The natural hot springs and food are at the center of your trip, and if you meet the cat near the entrance, it’s a good way to spend your time quietly greeting it.
Japanese-style inn Swallow Tokyo Kawasaki
Illustrative imageBasic information
- Location: Kawasaki Ward, Kanagawa Prefecture
- Distance with cat: C | Resident cat may walk on the first floor, but the contact range is unconfirmed
- Check this list: Individual articles that organize official website and current accommodation information
- Accommodation features: 4 types of tatami flooring, shared bathroom, walking distance from Kawasaki/Hatchonawate Station
Features of this inn
This is an inn in the city where you can stay in a Japanese-style room and meet resident cats walking around the entrance and living room. It is characterized by the fact that it can be easily combined with sightseeing in the Tokyo/Yokohama area or a long-term stay without having to go to a hot spring resort.
The cat’s name, number of cats, and conditions for petting cannot be confirmed in official information, so it is C. Don’t just choose the cat for the purpose of interacting with them; give priority to the location and room conditions.
Maikyatto
Illustrative imageBasic information
- Location: Yugawara Town, Kanagawa Prefecture
- Distance to cat: B|With eligible plans, you can stay in the same guest room as the cat in the attached facility.
- Check this list: Individual articles that organize current accommodation plans and facility information
- Accommodation features: Primarily for overnight stays, with cat cafe and pet hotel, within walking distance from the station
Features of this inn
If you choose an eligible plan, this inn will let you know that you can stay in the same guest room as the cat. Unlike a typical inn where a resident cat visits the room depending on its mood, you will experience sharing a room according to the structure of the attached facility.
Therefore, Neko Yado Research classifies it as B instead of A. Please review the rules regarding cat selection, rooming times, additional conditions, and cat rest and safety before booking.
How to choose by purpose
- A chance encounter between a hot spring and a resident cat: Nanasawaso
- City stay and Japanese-style room near the station: Swallow Tokyo Kawasaki
- Stay in the same guest room as the cat on eligible plans: Maikyatto
- Focus on location for solo travelers and long-term stays: Swallow Tokyo Kawasaki, Maikyatto (Check reservation conditions)
Things to check before making a reservation
- Are resident cats/facility cats still present, and where can you meet them?
- Is it a free guest room visit or a room-sharing experience based on the applicable plan?
- Accommodation facilities such as hot springs, shared bathroom, and overnight stay, plus meal conditions
- Cat’s range of activities and cleaning measures if you have a cat allergy
- Rules for cuddles, snacks, photography, and when the cat wants to take a break
Summary
The three in Kanagawa Prefecture have different mechanisms for contact with cats. If you want to meet a resident cat at a hot spring inn, try Nanasawaso; if you want to stay in a Japanese-style inn in the city, try Swallow Tokyo Kawasaki; and if you want to share a room with a cat on a fixed plan, try Maikyatto. Do not just rely on the phrase “the cat will come to the guest room,” but understand the difference between free visits and eligible plans before making your selection.
