In Saitama Prefecture, we were able to confirm a private lodging adjacent to a rescue cat shelter, a mountain villa and farm inn in Chichibu, and a hot spring hotel in Gyoda with a cat manager. Three of the four inns are in the Chichibu area, but the way they interact with cats is different, with only a dedicated space, interaction inside the inn, and confirmation of cat presence.

A/B/C indicates the distance to the cat, not the evaluation ranking of accommodation or protection activities. At the time of publication, there are no accommodations in A where guest room visits can be confirmed, so we will clarify the unconfirmed items before comparing.
Accommodation where conditions were confirmed
Neko no Shippo
Basic information
- Location: Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture

- Accommodation features: Normal guest room and rooms on the second floor of the shelter, night admission for guests.
Features of this inn
This is a private lodging facility adjacent to “Laughing Nyanko Kingdom” where approximately 100 rescued cats live, and where you can combine your stay with a visit to a sheltered cat facility. Rather than a typical resident cat inn, the main focus of your stay will be cat rescue activities and a cat-only space.
Cats do not normally come to the guest room to play. Be sure to understand the type of room, the time you can enter, how to make a reservation, and the rules for interacting with cats before choosing one.
Urayama Sanso

This is a Japanese-style inn where you can interact with friendly cats inside the inn, and enjoy Chichibu cuisine and garden baths made of natural stones. It is within walking distance from Urayamaguchi Station, and we can also provide transportation according to your requirements.
The names, number of cats, and guest-room visits cannot be confirmed with the current official information. If you meet inside the inn, we will think of it as a place where you can spend time within a distance of the cat’s choosing.
Yumoto Tennen Onsen Hotel

Features of this inn
This is a hotel with a hot bath facility, where resident cats greet guests near the front desk. The location and trip structure are different from the three mountain inns in Chichibu, and you can combine sightseeing in Gyoda, natural hot springs, and encounters with cats.
Guest-room visits cannot be confirmed. Please follow the facility information on the day when cats are on duty, during breaks, and when there are many day-trippers.
Sanpo

This is a farm guesthouse in Chichibu where resident cat Jojo lives. This inn is suitable for people who choose lodging not only based on proximity to cats, but also on local cuisine using local ingredients and a rural environment.
I can’t confirm where you can meet the cat, what areas you can touch it, and guest-room visits, so it’s C. If you require cat interaction, please confirm current presence and range directly before booking.

- Japanese-style inn and resident cat: Urayama Sanso
- Natural hot spring and resident cat: Yumoto Tennen Onsen Hotel
- Farm inns and local cuisine: Sanpo
- Use public transportation: Urayama Sanso, Sanpo (check walking/transfer conditions)
Things to check before making a reservation
- Current status of the resident cat, location, time, and range of interaction
- Differences between animal rescue facilities and guest rooms, terms of use such as night admission, etc.
- Meals, bathing facilities, shared amenities, and check-in methods
- Chichibu Railway schedule, walking route from the station, and shuttle conditions
- Rules regarding photographing, feeding, and holding cats
Summary
Of the four accommodations in Saitama Prefecture, three are B, where you can check the interaction in a private space or inside the inn, and one is C, where you can check if there is a resident cat. Even in Chichibu, the purpose of staying at a sheltered cat facility, inn, or farm guesthouse is different. If hot spring facilities and proximity to the city are important to you, you might also consider Yumoto Tennen Onsen Hotel in Gyoda.
