“Kogashimaso” in Wakasa Town, Fukui Prefecture is a hot spring inn located on the shores of Lake Suigetsu. If you’re lucky, you might even meet the inn’s cat while staying on the quiet lakeside, enjoying the hot springs flowing directly from the source, and enjoying the food of Wakasa.

An inn where you can enjoy a secret hot spring by the lake
The inn is located on the shores of Lake Suigetsu, one of the Mikata Five Lakes. The main feature is the natural hot springs and dishes made with local ingredients, allowing you to enjoy your stay as a hot spring inn even on days when you can’t see the cats.
It is a two-story inn built on Hongak Island, far from the surrounding private houses, relocated from an old local house. You can see the lake from inside the inn, where the thatched gate, thick beams, and pillars remain.
Guest rooms and Wakasa cuisine
There are 25 rooms in total, with free Wi-Fi in all guest rooms and the lobby. Since the building is an old building, it is best to check the differences in steps and toilet conditions in the guest rooms for each room.
Meals are mainly Kaiseki cuisine that incorporates seafood from Wakasa Bay and the blessings of Satoyama and Lake Satoumi. Depending on the season, eel and crab courses are also available.
