Interacting with rescue cats at Bettei Nekodokoro Minamiya
Accommodation plans describe all the cats at Nekodokoro as former rescue cats. Koara, who appeared in the 2026 resident cat ranking, is described as enjoying people’s laps and coming over to greet visitors.
The inn is classified as B because interaction takes place in a dedicated cat space. Cats do not visit guest rooms in the accommodation building, so this is not category A. The cat cafe charges a fee and requires reservations; special benefits for overnight guests may be available.
Cat cafe reservations and rules
Older Hakuba Village materials list opening hours of 10:00 to 17:00, reservations required and irregular closures. Hours and fees can change. Tell the inn when booking your stay that you would like to use the cafe, and confirm your entry time for the day.
Avoid reaching into the cats’ resting spaces, chasing them or forcibly picking them up. If you have a cat allergy, consult the inn: even though the cafe is in a separate building, exposure may occur through clothing or shared routes.
Japanese-Western and Japanese-style rooms, and artificial hot spring baths
Jalan’s current facility information lists 9 rooms: 7 Japanese-Western rooms and 2 Japanese-style rooms. Washbasins, toilets and unit baths vary by room type. Every room has Wi-Fi and individual air conditioning.
The inn has indoor, open-air and private baths. Its current official information explains that artificial hot spring baths using Komeiseki mineral stone were introduced in December 2024. Distinguish this from older tourism information and booking-page image captions that describe natural hot springs. Check your plan and the information provided on arrival for operating hours, private-use conditions, charges and whether any bathing tax applies.
Homemade Japanese cuisine using local ingredients
The Hakuba Village Tourism Bureau describes dinner as kaiseki cuisine and breakfast as Japanese-style. Meals use seasonal vegetables and regional ingredients. Current official information says meals must be reserved by the previous day and may be optional depending on the accommodation plan. Before booking, confirm whether meals are included in the room price and the dinner start time.
Kaiseki uses a wide range of ingredients. If you have severe allergies or dietary restrictions, check whether the inn can accommodate them before booking.
Within walking distance of Happo Bus Terminal
The inn is at 3020-26 Hokujo, Hakuba Village, about 5 minutes by car from JR Hakuba Station and 10 minutes on foot from Happo Bus Terminal. An express bus from Nagano Station to Hakuba is another option. Free parking is available, and winter driving equipment for snowy roads is essential.
