Spending Time with the Cats at Pension Atca
I am the director of Neko Yado Research! The one I am introducing this time is “Pension Atca” located in Tateyama at the southern end of the Boso Peninsula in Chiba Prefecture.
This is not just a simple pension. The concept is actually a “cat house you can stay in”! While it does not have the luxury of a high-end hotel, it is a very warm and comfortable home where a couple who love cats, energetic children, and six cats with distinct personalities live.
With a great location overlooking the sea from a high vantage point, why not go on a trip to forget the fatigue of daily life and fully charge up on cat vibes?
🐾 A Thorough Analysis of the Diverse Cats at Atca!
Atca has cats full of charm living there. Since they can freely move between the outside and inside the house, they may also come to play in your room!

Chibi (♀)｜Born in 2014
She is a girl who loves being alone like a lone wolf, but her love for her family is twice as strong. She is a maverick who overturns common sense in the cat world by loving water so much that she even goes swimming. One of Chibi’s features is her fluffy long fur that sticks out between her fingers.
Dan (♂)｜Born 2015
He is a bit neurotic and timid, but his posture of sleeping on his back is completely angelic 💕 He also has a hidden side as an expert at catching birds. He is a gap-moe type male born from a noble lineage.
Sangchu (♂)｜Born 2016
A total human lover, he comes when called and can even fetch a Super Ball, possessing a dog-like friendliness 🐶 He is family-oriented and showers love on everyone without discrimination. How he interacts depends on the day’s mood and the host’s guidance.
Motsu (♀)｜Born 2017
A rare cat who is popular with people and cats alike! She is remarkably agile and skilled at climbing cat trees. You might get lucky and see her signature “paw tapping.” Once you see this adorable gesture, you will not forget it.
Hatsu (♂) | Born 2017
He’s a boy full of energy, like a middle school student, who comes back after greeting from as far as 50 meters away. He even has the unique habit of meditating with his head stuck in a cat hole. I’m a bit curious about what he’s thinking.
Sora (♀)
Sora, introduced as a new member in an old article. She is a girl with blue eyes that seem to be sucked in and an elegant manner of standing and moving. Please note that this introduction is a record from when it was published. For current cats, please prioritize checking the official guide and confirming with the host.
🐾 “Favorite” Points of Neko Yado Research
While the cats are cute, Atca’s environment for “humans” to spend time in is also very wonderful.
1. Creating guest rooms where you can get lost in searching for cats
All 6 rooms (twin and triple types) have Simmons double mattresses on every bed. Sofas and refrigerators have deliberately been left out because “there is never enough time to look for cats”! A refrigerator and microwave are available in the shared living room, so there is no need to worry 💤
2. A bathroom with sea views and a spacious living room
The toilets are shared and outside the guest rooms, while a bathroom with views of the sea has been added! Relaxing in the large living room is another pleasure of a stay at Atca 🌊
3. Homemade warm Western-style meals
Dinner (18:00~) begins with appetizers, and you can enjoy homemade cabbage rolls and desserts. Breakfast (8:30~) features stylish menus that change with the season, such as hamburgers, salad, chiffon cake, and French toast. You can feel happy from the morning🍽️
4. Ample amenities
Slippers, bath towels, hand towels, toothbrushes, razors, hair dryers, lotions, and makeup removers are all provided. Please bring your own sleepwear. According to the official FAQ confirmed in 2026-09-05, pajamas, yukatas, and other sleepwear are not provided. Free Wi-Fi is also available.

| 🙅 Bringing treats for the cats is not allowed | Because some cats have dietary restrictions, bringing treats for the cats is not permitted. Please use the items sold within the inn! Bringing cat toys is allowed according to the official FAQ. Beverages are not allowed to be brought in during meal times, but are allowed for use in the guest room, so please distinguish the location. |

🚃 Access
By car: Approximately 30 minutes from Tateyama Road/Tomiura IC. Approximately 2 hours from Tokyo. There is a Seven-Eleven (3 minutes by car) and a drugstore (10 minutes by car) nearby.
By bus: Approximately 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours from Tokyo Station to Tateyama Station via JR Bus Kanto’s high-speed bus. From Tateyama Station, it is approximately 20 minutes by taxi.
Shuttle service: Official Access states “4 people or more, reservation required,” and Facility Guide indicates a separate charge of 1,500 yen per one-way trip (2026-09-05 confirmation). Since the number of people and the fee are listed on separate pages, please confirm the number of people, round trip, desired time, and total amount at the time of reservation. Do not assume it can be used with 1–3 people; also consider arranging a taxi.
