Myoken Rakuenso, located in Myoken Onsen along the Amori River in Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture, is a spa-style inn where you can stay as if you were living there. On the official website, four cats are introduced as the current members as “cats living freely in Myoken Rakuenso.”
Although we can confirm that cats live freely inside the inn, there is no official description of where guests can touch them or guest room visits. Therefore, on this site, we classify them as C and introduce them in a way that does not guarantee interaction with cats.
Myoken Rakuenso Cat Club: 4 Cats
Official facility/animal introduction features the original resident cats: Yuzu, Deka, Aimo, and Ayu.
Yuzu appeared around 2015, gave birth to a kitten at the inn, and after looking for a foster parent, she became a resident cat. Currently, she has handed over the resident cat duties to Aimo and is described as a “reclusive cat” who doesn’t go out much. They each have different personalities: Deka is shy, and Aimo is nicknamed the “site supervisor.”
It is reliable that the official information clearly states the presence and living area, but “living freely” does not mean “freely touching”. Do not approach the cats when they are resting, and follow the inn’s rules when taking photos and feeding them.
Hot spring treatment style with all rooms equipped with kitchens
What makes Myoken Rakuenso unique is that it is not a typical one-night-and-two-meal inn, but instead allows you to stay while cooking your own meals. All rooms have a private kitchen equipped with basic cooking utensils such as a stove, pots, pans, knives and chopsticks. Please check the guest room details for the range of ingredients and seasonings and whether a refrigerator is available.
There are three fully automatic washing machines that can be used free of charge on the premises, making it suitable for medium- to long-term stays. Wi-Fi is available in the communal rest area. Each guest room has different facilities, so choose a room based on your desired conditions, such as a annex with a hot spring, a main building, or a view.
Enjoy Myoken Onsen near the Amori River
The inn is located in an environment where you can hear the sound of the river and the voices of birds. There are some types of annex with hot springs where you can enjoy hot springs while staying in the guest room, and there is a bathhouse in the main building. In Kirishima City’s hot spring guide, it is also listed as a day trip bathing facility with hydrogen carbonate springs.
Please check the availability of the hot springs, private baths, and whether the hot springs are shared with day-trippers depending on your plan and room. Since this is a self-catering accommodation, please do not assume that meals will be provided, but also plan nearby shopping locations and arrival time.

Access
It is located towards Myoken Onsen from Kagoshima Airport and JR Hayato Station. If you do not plan to use a car, please contact the inn before making a reservation, as public transportation and taxi availability may change. It is a good idea to check the parking options before you arrive.
