Why Nekoyado information tends to become outdated and how to read the confirmation date

Illustration of an editor comparing Nekoyado's official update with a research memo with a confirmation date Cat-inn guide

The status of Nekoyado articles may change more quickly than general tourist spot introductions. This is because the cat’s growth and physical condition, accommodation management, seasonal plans, and transportation all change at the same time.

Cat’s presence and living range change

The range of access to the common areas and guest room changes when you welcome a new cat, retire, go to the hospital, adjust the relationship between cats, etc. Just because we met yesterday doesn’t guarantee today.

The operation of the inn will change

Meal venue classification, cat-only time, photography, cuddles, snacks, and entrance management will be changed for hygiene and safety reasons. It’s important not to look for the old ways of travel writing today.

Reservation conditions and transportation will change

Fees, plans, transfers, overnight stay, check-in, and nearest flights vary depending on the season and number of people. This is why we do not write fixed prices in the article, but instead indicate where to check.

Read the three dates separately

  • Publish date: The date the article was first published.
  • Updated date: Date when text or information was corrected
  • Date of confirmation: Date of confirmation of facts through official information or interviews

Even if the update date is new, you may not have checked the cat section. Nekoyado Research Institute indicates the confirmation date and basis at the beginning of the article or in the update history.

Source Priority

Priority will be given to the inn’s official website, official SNS, and direct inquiries to the inn, with assistance provided by local governments and tourism associations. Reservation sites and traveler posts can give you a clue as to the conditions, but we do not currently use them as the final source of information.

Confirmations for readers before booking

  1. See the latest announcements on the official website
  2. View the conditions of your desired plan on the reservation screen
  3. Ask the inn only the important points regarding the distance from the resident cat.
  4. Do not read the answer as a “guarantee that we will meet the cat”
  5. Double-check traffic and weather conditions just before departure

When you find an old article

If you feel that the information is incorrect, please check the official change notice before posting criticism or speculation about the inn on social media. When informing this site, please include the inn name, article URL, changes, and official confirmation source.

If information disappears

Even if a cat’s description disappears from the official page, we do not immediately conclude that it is absent or dead. We will state that the information cannot be confirmed at this time and will contact the inn if necessary. Hold or review A/B/C until confirmed.

Neko Yado Research update example

Change What the article does
Guest room visits information has ended Re-determine A to B/C and update the text and tags at the same time
Changed the cat room hours Added the confirmation date to the text and corrected the fixed time determination
Resident cat retires Leave a record of the past and add to the beginning that he is currently unable to meet
Transfer conditions have changed Transfer attributes, access, and confirmation items when making reservations have been updated
Official page disappeared Re-examined as unconfirmed without making a conclusion based only on secondary information

Updates affect not only text, but also categories, A/B/C tags, maps, official SNS, and list articles. After correcting one article, we also check the list of prefectures and thematic lists that list the same inn.

When correction information is received

When we are contacted by a reader or the host, we do not immediately make a decision based on just the declaration, but instead check the official page, interviews, and current reservation information. Content that is difficult to publicly confirm due to the nature of the cat’s health or personal information may be marked as “Currently under review” without providing details.

For confirmed corrections, record the relevant location, confirmation source, and confirmation date. If past errors have a significant impact on reservation decisions, we will not only silently replace the main text, but will also leave the updated information in a way that is easy to understand.

Summary

The freshness of Nekoyado information is judged not only by how recent the date is, but also by what information is confirmed and from which source. By having travelers double-check the official information and editors keeping track of changes, misunderstandings about inns and cats can be reduced.

If the host wants to organize update items and responsibilities on the official website, please see Minimum information to be updated on the accommodation site.
