This article is a research list of inns where the conditions could be confirmed as of 2026-08-14, based on Neko Yado Research’s published individual articles and attribute audits. Please check the official information of each inn before making a reservation, as business hours, availability of cats, plans, and transportation conditions may change.

When traveling alone, it is important to be able to choose the number of people you can make reservations for, meals, common areas, coming and going at night, and the distance from the cat at your own pace.

Correction on 2026-10-10: Clarified that guest-room visits at Nyan STAY are not guaranteed. The original information confirmation date remains 2026-08-14.

Criteria for posting this list

We will post information on single-occupancy accommodations, dormitory and guesthouse formats, and accommodations for which you can check the rationale for considering accommodations for solo travelers in individual articles. Don’t just guess that “one person is welcome”.

“You can meet cats,” “you can touch them,” and “cats sometimes come to the guest room” are different conditions. A/B/C on this site indicates the distance to the cat, and does not indicate the quality or recommendation ranking of the accommodation.

The order of publication is not a ranking. At each link, you can check the current information about the cat, where you can meet it, the accuracy of visits to the guest room, unconfirmed details, and links to official information.

Axis to judge whether it is easy to make a reservation by yourself

Rather than relying on an impression that an inn welcomes solo travelers, we check current plans that can be booked for 1 person, the pricing conditions for 1-person occupancy, how meals are provided, the latest check-in time, transport from the station, and encounters with cats in shared areas. Even an inn with private rooms may be excluded if bookings require at least 2 people or no solo-traveler availability appears for the dates searched. Dormitories and private rooms differ in luggage arrangements and where guests can spend time with cats, so we do not rank them using the same criteria.

How to read reference materials

Check the official reservation screen and inn information for single occupancy availability, and refer to the linked individual research articles for information on the distance to the cat. Date-based sales restrictions are not considered permanent unavailability and will be reconfirmed on the desired date.

Please double check before booking

  • Is the resident cat still present on the desired date?
  • Where, when, and if you can meet the cat
  • Are the conditions the same for your desired accommodation plan?
  • You may not be able to meet the cat due to its rest days or health condition.
  • Latest conditions for transportation, meals, and check-in

Information to Share when Traveling Alone

Share your arrival time and emergency contact information with your family, etc., and avoid walking at night. Focus on photographing the cat and avoid distractions from valuables or the front door.

Narrow down solo travel candidates in 3 stages

First, search for “1 adult” on your desired date and check if it is possible to make a reservation. Even if it says “welcome solo travelers,” on busy days or on plans that include meals, there may be a minimum of 2 people. On the other hand, there are some inns that only accept reservations over the phone, even if they don’t show up on the vacancy search, so be sure to check the official contact information.

Next, check the rates for 1-person occupancy, dining locations, whether bathrooms and toilets are shared, and whether the location allows guests to eat out after check-in. The stay also differs between inns where cats freely come into shared areas and inns where cats may visit guest rooms. Finally, check the walking route after dark, the minimum number of passengers for a pre-booked shuttle, and the last scheduled bus.

  1. Guest room and plan that can be reserved for one person on the desired date
  2. Fee for one person, meals, shared facilities, and luggage management
  3. Where and when you can meet cats
  4. Outbound/return traffic and night movement
  5. Enjoy your stay even if you can’t meet cats

“Suitable for solo travel” does not mean that you can spend time without talking to anyone, or that the cat will always be your companion if you are alone. Even if you stay at the same accommodation, your decision will be different depending on whether a social guest house suits you or someone who wants to rest in a private room.

List update policy

If the conditions change due to information from the inn, updates to the official website, or on-site interviews, we will update the individual articles and this list at the same time. Old SNS posts alone will not raise the conditions for publication. If you notice any errors or changes in the information, please let us know along with the official source of confirmation.

Summary

We judge whether a place is suitable for solo travelers not by the number of cats, but by the conditions that make it easy for one person to book and stay safely.
